Affiliation
In 1932 Conrad N. Hilton wrote "The Greatest of Them All" onto a photograph of The Waldorf Astoria New York in New York City. It was his dream to own this hotel and include it in his prestigious portfolio of hotels. In 1949 he realized his dream, extending his version of "the light and warmth of hospitality" to the legendary New York landmark. Today, the hotel is the inspiration for the distinctive luxury hotels of The Waldorf Astoria New York Collection, the new Hilton brand established in 2006, to which the original Waldorf Astoria New York is affiliated.

Today, The Waldorf Astoria New York and The Waldorf Towers, the boutique hotel occupying 27th to 42nd floors of The Waldorf Astoria New York, offer a total of 1,416 guest rooms, including 303 suites, all featuring original Art Deco motifs. Each room is decorated individually; no two are exactly alike.

Location
The Waldorf Astoria New York hotel occupies an entire city block between Park and Lexington Avenues and 49th and 50th Streets. The hotel's midtown Manhattan location make it within walking distance of Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Theater District and the best shopping and art galleries on Madison and Fifth Avenues. Three major airports (JFK, LaGuardia and Newark) are located within 45-60 minutes travel time from the hotel. The motor entrance is between Park and Lexington avenues on 50th Street, which is one-way eastbound.
